NEWS ROUNDUP

ACQUISITION: The LeClaire-Schlosser Group of Marcus & Millichap arranges the sale of a five-property self-storage portfolio in Greater Houston, Texas. The portfolio totals 1,042 units and 148,745 NRSF across facilities in Pattison, Brookshire, Hockley, and Waller. The assets include self-storage, climate-controlled units, boat and RV storage, and more than 12 acres of expansion land. Dave Knobler, Mixson Staffel, and Charles “Chico” LeClaire represented the seller in the transaction.

DEVELOPMENT: Alternate Attic Storage LLC, owned by Andy and Tracey Ellington, is preparing to open a new self-storage facility in Rice, Virginia, in October. The 116-unit facility will offer a variety of storage sizes for household belongings, seasonal items, and furniture. The operation also plans to add secure outdoor storage for boats, RVs, and trailers in the future. Andy and Tracey Ellington said the facility will provide a reliable and convenient storage option for the Rice community and surrounding areas.

DEVELOPMENT: SecureSpace Self Storage opens SecureSpace University Place, a new 63,005 SF self-storage facility in University Place, Washington. The facility offers 655 units ranging from 5x5 to 15x25, along with 34 rentable parking spaces. Located near Trader Joe’s, Safeway, and Starbucks, the property marks SecureSpace’s 17th store in the Seattle MSA. The facility is undergoing upgrades, including a modernized leasing office, AI-enabled security cameras and sensors, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.

ACQUISITION: Marcus & Millichap facilitates the sale of Brazos E-Z Storage, a 44,178 SF self-storage facility in Lake Jackson, Texas. Dave Knobler, Charles “Chico” LeClaire, Adam Schlosser, and Mixson Staffel exclusively marketed the property on behalf of the Houston-based seller and procured the Michigan-based buyer, both individual investors. The transaction reflects continued investor interest in Brazoria County, supported by its diverse economic base, long-term growth prospects, and opportunities for operational improvements in established self-storage assets.
